We encourage you to join our vibrant network and collaborate with like-minded individuals, organisations, associations, and movements from all over the world who are committed to our shared vision and objectives.

Membership Criteria

  1. The association/organisation or movement should represent victims and survivors of serious human rights abuses, have a rights-based approach, and be committed to non-violence;
  2. The association/organisation or movement should align with INOVAS values, mission, and vision, and work on issues pertaining to victims and survivors’ rights;
  3. INOVAS welcomes applications for membership from both formal and informal associations, organisations, and movements that align with the network’s values and principles;
  4. Formal associations must have non-profit legal status in their country, while informal associations/organisations and movements are not yet officially registered or do not have non-profit legal status;
  5. All associations/organisations and movements must be non-partisan and should not represent a political party or arm, and should not risk the politicization of human rights issues;
  6. The association/organisation or movement should have human rights programs and/or activities that align with the objectives of INOVAS and be governed by an independent, voluntary, and active board of directors;
  7. The association/organisation or movement should be financially responsible and accountable;
  8. The association/organisation or movement should be committed to working collaboratively/collectively within INOVAS and contributing to both the movement and its visibility;
  9. The association/organisation or movement should commit to working on common ground approaches and engage in constructive cooperation, without exporting internal crises of local organisations or conflicts with other organisations to INOVAS;
  10. Each application will be carefully evaluated on a case-by-case basis, with due diligence and scrutiny, to ensure alignment with INOVAS’s values and principles.
  1. Individuals must be victims and survivors of serious human rights abuses, committed to non-violence, and align with INOVAS values, mission, and vision;
  2. Individuals should work on issues pertaining to victims and survivors’ rights, be committed to working collaboratively/collectively within INOVAS, and contributing to both the movement and its visibility;
  3. Individuals should represent the growing number of domestic human rights leaders and defenders in their country.

Membership Application Process

Applicants are required to complete the membership application for associations, organisations or movements online. Additionally, they should submit the below supporting documents to the Membership Committee at membership.inovas@gmail.com. The Membership Committee will then review the submitted applications and contact each applicant regarding further steps.

  1. Statutes, constitution, founding charter, or similar document;
  2. Composition and term of executive body (board of directors or equivalent), including names and institutional affiliations;
  3. If the organisation has committed to any additional codes of conduct or similar documents, or if you have been accredited by a quality/accountability organisation, please send a copy of the code or standard with your application;
  4. List of publications in the past 2 years [if available];
  5. List of meetings/ seminars/ conferences/ events that your association/organisation or movement has organized or attended in the past two years [if available];
  6. Gender equality policy or strategy [if available];
  7. A letter of recommendation signed by at least two founding members of INOVAS;
  8. Material related to the activities of your organisation, including how you work to promote human rights within your organisation and its activities;
  9. Once approved for membership, each organisation will confirm in writing the person(s) that will act as its representative(s) to INOVAS.

Applicants are required to complete the membership application for individuals online. Additionally, they should submit the below supporting documents to the Membership Committee at membership.inovas@gmail.com. The Membership Committee will then review the submitted applications and contact each applicant regarding further steps.

  1. List of publications in the past 2 years [if available];
  2. List of meetings/ seminars/ conferences/ events that your organisation has organized or attended in the past two years [if available];
  3. A letter of recommendation signed by at least two founding members of INOVAS.

Membership Benefits

  1. Networking opportunities: Members will have the opportunity to connect with other organisations and individuals who work on similar issues and share knowledge, resources, and best practices.
  2. Advocacy and policy influence: Through collective action, INOVAS members can increase their influence on national and international policy-making related to victims and survivors’ rights.
  3. Capacity building and technical assistance: INOVAS may provide training and support to members to improve their organisational capacity and effectiveness.
  4. Access to information and resources: Members will have access to INOVAS’ resources, including research, reports, and publications on issues related to victims and survivors’ rights.
  5. Visibility and recognition: As a member of INOVAS, organisations will be able to leverage INOVAS’ reputation and credibility to increase their own visibility and recognition.
  6. Platform for exchange and dialogue: INOVAS may facilitate peer to peer exchanges and dialogue among members on various issues related to victims and survivors’ rights.
